Wizard and the Gypsy

A few Gremlins in the Machine

After wrestling with some technical wiring difficulties, finally it’s time to get back to doing the vocals for these songs! Yay! Seems like the gremlins in the system have been slowing this down a bit, but as the musical project is evolving and changing, it seems obvious that the timing is for the best.

Anyway, tonight I did the vocal for Wizard and the Gypsy. Wizard is the only tune from this latest batch of recordings that I wrote myself, quite some time ago. The rest were all co-written with Brian within the last year. I had added it to the huge pile of “retired old songs” , when (at Brian’s urging) we decided to try it just for fun with the guys in Rock Scarlet. Wow! It reinvented itself; it seemed to really take on a life of its own, so we performed it at a few shows.

Suddenly it became one of our most requested songs, (maybe after Crystalline Sunshine and Wayside). Anyway, it was written in another life, and tonight doing the vocals I had this sudden moment of remembering the amusingly weird event that brought that song out.

Maybe I’ll post the short version of that story tomorrow…

  1. Wow! That’s so funny cause I just had Wizard and the Gypsy in my head the other day. I was remembering what a good song it was. I’m so glad you’ve revived it!
