If you\u2019ve seen my entries on Facebook and Twitter, you know that I recently spent a bunch of hours re-working our digital backdrop for tomorrow night\u2019s Rock Scarlet show.  While working on it, I realized that it\u2019s really<\/em> a Psychanaut backdrop: cool space scenes and psychedelic morphing colors and swirls \u2013 so I was pretty inspired to work with it.  <\/p>\n

(mini rant: If only the video editing software was not so excruciatingly slow and buggy, really Ulead \u2013 get it together already!  I don\u2019t want to get too much into that, but the work was much<\/em> slower than it had to be.  Luckily I was also able to use a much better software by Sony to author the DVD \u2013 yay!)<\/p>\n

I also re-listened to the audio intro for Rock Scarlet and realized that it actually matches the backdrop \u2013 it, too, has elements of what I want more of in the next phase\u2026For those of you who remember it, it has some cool synth sounds and also some snippets of dialog from key movies \u2013 Wizard of Oz, Rock Horror Picture Show, A Wonderful Life, Alice in Wonderland\u2026 it says something while saying nothing \u2013 it\u2019s all in how<\/em> you hear it.  <\/p>\n

It suddenly appears obvious that all the elements of the show that have my hand directly on them: the backdrop, the audio, and the lyrics\/melodies are already there for  Psychanaut.   <\/p>\n

So over the next month or few, even as Rock Scarlet continues to gig, you may see some changes \u2013 not sure  exactly where they will lead; but Psychanaut seems like it\u2019ll be more in line with my own vision than our project has been up until now.  We\u2019ll still rock \u2013 how could we not? ;-)  But there will be more textures and dynamics, and more overall silliness I should hope!  Your fave songs will still be performed \u2013 but some arrangements and delivery may change.  We\u2019ll experiment – Should be fun!<\/p>\n

So, do come out to Cresfest tomorrow night Sat Aug 22 \u2013 it\u2019ll be the original Rock Scarlet lineup with Richie, Mike, Brian and I.  But stay posted for some fun new changes as we find the flow and continue to go with it.  My feeling is that as we approach 2012 (and not because of any election) being open to change, flexible, and putting out positive energies are even more timely.  <\/p>\n

It might be too much \u201ccosmic-ness\u201d to say in this blog, but in the coming months I see each of us increasingly aligning with whatever energies are dominant within us \u2013 alliances shift, hearts are swayed, like minds\/hearts are connecting all over the planet.  So for me, this means blossoming into an expanded musical horizon.  Some people become more open, some shut down in fear.  Perhaps soon we\u2019ll all be much more transparent to one another and to ourselves \u2013 more honest and more real.  \u201cSo your story\u2019s out there for all too see \u2013 Ring that Bell it\u2019s tolling for thee\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
