>My role in society, or any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.
~John Lennon

The big question is whether you are going to be able to say a hearty “yes” to your adventure.

I live on Earth at present,
and I don’t know what I am.
I know that I am not a category.
I am not a thing — a noun.
I seem to be a verb,
an evolutionary process —
an integral function of the universe.
~ R. Buckminster Fuller

were thought to be insane
by those who could not hear the music

Psychonaut (or Psychanaut) – a modern portmanteau of the Greek words for soul and sailor i.e. a traveler of the mind/soul.  A person facinated by our boundless inner universe.  A person who experiences intentionally induced altered states of consciousness in order to investigate the mysteries of his or her deepest inner space, and address consciousness/spiritual questions through direct experience.  Someone more attuned with philosophy, morality, and consciousness than with trivial persuits and mass distractions.

(PsychAnaut instead of PsychOnaut sometimes denotes a female psychonaut.)

I couldn’t say it any better than that. So, here’s labels that could be applied to me: vocalist, performer, songwriter, psychanaut, visionary, wildlife protector, poet, ecologist – and generator of glorious ideas.

I have many interests and skills, but all come from my main joy and personal passion: the evolution of our species.  What is our potential as human beings?  How much wiser can we be?  How much more loving?  I understand that all of our challenges, from environmental degradation to animal exploitation to greed to violence…all come from a lack of consciousness.  And so, to improve every aspect of our personal and global reality, we must open ourselves up to a higher level of consciousness that is available, right now, to us.

It is my dream to live in a world of beauty, where all living beings are valued…a world where humankind has grown beyond violence and exploitation and instead embrace our role as creatives and caretakers.

Sometimes this dream feels so close, as if we could move into it today… and other times it seems like only a fantasy.  I do not pretend to know which way this particular species will choose…but for myself: I choose to expand into conscious life, whatever that may mean.

If this resonates with you, then we are perhaps on the same journey! I’d love to hear from you.

Peace!
