Well, he’s too modest to admit it, but some of us would have to say, YES. Last Friday night you guys know we played late at Happy Hours. You saw Richie pounding away the entire show, plus do that long extended drum solo that everybody was screaming for. What you don’t know is that Richie had worked since 6AM that day. We tore down our equipment after the show, and he and didn’t get home till probably 3AM. He then worked again the next morning after just a couple hours sleep. Here’s where the superman stuff happens…After work, he and a couple guys decided to take a quick dip in the river to cool off before going home.
Suddenly there was a commotion – some people’s kayak had gotten flipped and the undercurrents were strong. One guy was hanging onto a branch, and another was clinging to the overturned kayak., but because of the currents, they couldn’t get to shore. People on the bank were confused, and nobody knew how to help. Enter Super Richie. 🙂
Richie bolted to his truck and got a rope, then flew down the embankment (plowing through the thorney blackberry bushes) and along with the other guys onshore they helped the boaters to safety.
Richie got up early and went to work at 3AM the next day. OMG! So, yes, Richie is superman. At the next show, be sure to tell him I said so. 😉
